When an Old album sounds like new

I hope all of you had a good Holiday. Mine were certainly better than last year's. I got three new albums for christmas. I finally got Audioslave's new album "Out of Exile." I listened to the entire album and in my opinion, I think that it's great and I believe that it will be around for a long time. I predict that in the future, some kid will hear about Audioslave for the first time and they are going to buy one of their old albums for the first time and it is going to sound just as new to them as it did for me today. (Update: 4/27/17. OMG! What the heck was I thinking!? Audioslave broke up when douchebag Chris Cornell left the band without telling his bandmates!)
I believe that my prediction will come true because that is exactly what happened to me when I bought two old albums with my christmas cash. I got Metallica's album "...And Justice For All" and The Who's "Who's Next."
"...And Justice for All" came out in 1988, which is almost twenty years ago (I was 6 at that time). Even though I've already heard some of the songs such as "Blackened," "One," "Harvester of Sorrow", and "Eye of the Beholder," It still sounded new to me because I got to hear songs I've never heard before such as "Dyers Eve" and my new favorite "To Live is to Die."
To any Metallica fans: I know that there are other albums that you think are better, but I'm still catching up. I have "Ride the Lightining," "The Black Album," and "S & M." Up next is "Kill Em' All," "Master of Puppets," "St. Anger," and any I haven't mentioned here.
"Who's Next" came out in 1971,which was 34 years ago (I wasn't even born yet). All you Who fans already know that this album was stuff salvaged from Pete's once abandoned "Lifehouse" project. Most of you also know that it's not abandoned anymore. Anyways, Even though I've already heard the songs "We Won't Get Fooled Again, " "Behind Blue Eyes," and (Do I really need to go on? most of you have heard them too) I got to hear the songs that the classic rock radio stations don't play over and over, such as "Love Ain't For Keeping," and the other B-side songs. This is what makes buying an old album worth it, because the longer a band has been around, the more the A-sides get played out. Just hearing the b-sides makes an old album feel like new.
To those wondering what I mean by the feeling I get from discovering something that feels new to you. Just think back to a time when you first got an album that you thought was the best album ever. You love it so much that you can't help but play it over and over.
Unfortunately, this feeling doesn't last. I try not to play an album too much otherwise it will get old fast. I learned that the hard way when I used to listen to The Beatles every single day. Don't get me wrong I still love them, but now I only listen to them once in a while.
Another way I prevent myself from listening to a new album too much is to dust off the ones you haven't heard in a while and listen to those, which don't sound so old anymore.

The year 2005 is coming to an end.

What a year it has been! I hope any of you reading this had a good year, the whole year. For me, the last half of 2004 was bad along with the first eight months of 2005. You'll notice that I talked about getting over obstacles earlier. That relates to all the shit I had gone through last year and this year. At least I learned new things through these rough experiences. For example: My best friend used to live with me and we were always around each other for 24/7, but that caused us to fight a lot and over the stupidest things. Now that she doesn't live with me anymore and we only see each other once in a while, we don't fight anymore and surprisingly we're still friends. What I learned from that is: no matter how much you like the person you hang out with, always have some time away from them, otherwise being around that person too much will build up so much tension that one day both of you will snap. I also learned what it will be like to have a roommate.
I also had a legal matter to deal with. I was accused of a crime I did not commit. A "So-Called Friend" had set me up. I really learned a lot from that incident, one: when you are being questioned by detectives and you have no idea what the hell you are accused of, "KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT!" because your right to remain silent also applies when being questioned. I screwed up my case by acting all scared when the detective was questioning me (actually he was intimidating and bullying me.) Two: don't ask your friends what to do, that was my second mistake. My friend gave me a story to tell to the detective to prevent me from being a snitch to one of our so-called friends. I still didn't know what I was being charged with. Three: besides keeping your mouth shut right from the start, ask what you are being charged with and get a lawyer. Anyways; I had this legal matter cleared and I am moving foward.
I'm not trying to tell my life story here, I'm hoping that this will help anyone in the future if an incident like this were to ever happen to them. This is only some advice I have, you can take it or leave it, also someone else probably has advice better than mine.

Sorry if this post looks depressing, I meant to write some lighter stuff. I'll start another one.

Hypnotize/Mezmerize

That's enough about my family. The only reason why I talk about them and the situations that come with them is because I know that other people go through the same thing too. Now I would like to talk about other topics, such as music, movies, current events, etc.

Last week I got System of a Down's second half of their first album Hypnotize, actually it's the first half, they released the second half Mezmerize six months ago. I'm not trying to promote their album or make you guys buy it. I am in no way affiliated with the band. I'm doing this as a suggestion and an opinion. I like all their albums, but I think that this is their best so far. I liked the idea of releasing both parts six months apart. The two parts of the album are designed so that they can be connected together. The albums are filled with artwork by guitarist Daron Malakian's father Varton Malakian. All the songs flow together with barely any pauses in between. I think the best songs on Hypnotize are Dreaming, Hypnotize, Tentative, and Soldier side. Mezmerize opens up with Soldier side where it is continued. BYOB, Revenga, Cigaro, and Sad Statue are my favorite songs from this half.

It's been a long time since double albums have come out. I wasn't born yet when double albums were chic in the late 60's and 70's. I could be wrong, but I think that double albums are going to make a comeback.

Did anyone else get this Double album? What do you think of it, like it? hate it? I'm open for your opinions.

Family Reunions

How many of you have been to one? I was at a mini family reunion last weekend, although it was because my uncle died, but in our family (my moms side) we don't do funerals, instead, we get together at a family members house to eat, drink, and talk about all the good memories of the person. I also meet my moms cousins and second cousins, who I can never keep track of cause there's so many, but there are the ones who are my age that I will remember. The point is, sometimes...even a loss in a family can still bring everyone together.

So far, I'm still trying to figure out how to work this blog. If anyone's reading this, you'll notice that there are two comments on my first post. to the person who made the first comment, Thank you. The second comment was deleted because that was me. I was trying to reply to the first comment. I'm still figuring out how to do this, but I'm now getting the hang of it.
Anyways...Is there anyone else reading Pete Townshend's story "The boy who heard music"? If not, you should, it's a bit perplexing, but it's good. You can find it on his website http://www.Petetownshend.com. Hopefully you guys will like it. Well that's all I have for now, I'll post again soon when I have something interesting to talk about.
