I Can't Go To The Who Concert. :(

Wow! after being away from the computer for two days, I'm amazed at how many comments I have gotten. Thank you all for the nice compliments of my dog. I also want to thank those who have e-mailed me, I loved the comments and pictures that was sent to me. Speaking of e-mails, I got two alerts for Who tickets, one from Ticketmaster and the other from The Who news alerts. They were both offering tickets for the Hollywood Bowl, the difference is the date of sales and probably the prices. I know I've been telling you guys that I was going to try to go, unfortunately there are two reasons why I can't. One: I can't afford the tickets, I don't blame The Who for that, Ticketmaster is charging $450.00 for them. Two: Even if I somehow came up with the money or find cheaper tickets, my Mom's side of the family is having a Family reunion, which is going to be on the week of this concert. We all know that family comes first, and I hope that the oppportunity to see The Who will come again.
Like this picture? I didn't draw it, the credit goes to Romney Vasquez who submitted it as Guest Art from ROCKTOONS.com, they have so many drawings of many musicians and Bands. I have left a link to that website, check it out!

Good morning Metalchick,
the picture is great. I can't understand the high prices of the tickets. Here in Germany we must pay 60 Euro (all places). The Who are cheaper than other bands. I cross the fingers for you that you can buy a DVD of one of the concerts in the USA. Here in Germany everything is very expensive.
Wish you a fantastic day
All the best
Stefan

The tickets do seem to be a high price in the USA. But as you said, family must come first anyway!
Hopefully there will be one or two webcasts that you can catch, and there's always the DVD's!

I too hope that the opportunity to see The Who will come again for you (fingers crossed)

Awww, sorry Metalchick! You'll make it there someday, I have no doubt!

What! $450 USD? I nearly fell off my chair.

As for the family commitments, I have been in the same predicament many times in the past - I sympathize. I hope you get a chance again too MC. Your family is most important. The only time I truly miss is time with my family. I actually envy you in many ways.

I am worried too about ticket prices...I was thinking about the Oregon or Seattle show but that's a lot of dough for travel and all...still hoping for a Phoenix show.

BTW, thank you for asking about my song last week. You inspired me to rerecord a rough version then I actually put it up on IAC. You asking about it made me think it was worthwhile. Anyway, it meant a lot!

Did you get the MP3???

Hi Metalchick,

I'm so sorry to hear you can't go see The Who. I've been reading about how much you wanted to. They are coming to our city, but we thought the prices were high at $127 - nothing near $450!! That's just gouging people, and unfortunately, great fans like yourself end up being the ones hurt in the end.

Hopefully you will get to go see them sometime soon!

Yes I like th picture. I am very sad that you can not go to a concert. I know how you feel. I've been a Who fan since '80or '81 and I have only been to one show in '89. Pitiful, isn't it? I'm making up for it by going to 3 shows this tour.

I know what you mean by family must come first. On the day of the Live 8 concert, I had to go the wedding. Otherwise I would have at least attempted to go to the once in a lifetime concert.

Those American prices are
extortionate, I can't understand why they charge so much. I moan about £60!

Hi Metalchick,
sorry to read that you won't be able to go see the Who. I can't believe the prices are so high- we didn't pay more than 65 Euros for the Berlin show (which is just around $100 once you convert to Cdn dollars). Ridiculous.

Hope you're doing well, my dear.

Cheers,
AM

I'm so sorry for you Metalchick, but yesm $450 is an outrageous price for a ticket. That's absolutely crazy and a total rip-off. I wanted to go and see Roger Waters and Pearl Jam over here, but decided €85 was too much for me! Anyway, as you say family come first. In the end I couldn't see Roger wAters anyway as it was the weekend of my siter's silver wedding in the UK, so I went there instead. My sympathies though, Chick

Hi, it's been a while since I've had a chance to hit the blogging circuit.(I'm the guy from LAncaster Pa.) Work and all that fun stuff. I actually paid over $200.00 for the Phila show. They should be pretty good seats I think and I have my name in for the intimate venue at New York. Thank goodness American Express upped my credit limit or I'd be buying the DVD too. Hope you've been well, and right now the temp is still about 92 at 7:00 - I saw you had to comment on the heat and I know it was bad out there. See ya, Rich

Bookworm,
I not sure what 60 Euro is in US dollars, but I do wonder if tickets are cheaper there than here in the US.

Cheryl Ann,
Hopefully we'll both get another chance.

crazycharly,
I'm glad you like the picture.

Marymoo,
You're right, I can always get the DVD and catch the webcasts, but it's not the same as being there and seeing The Who with my own eyes.

Green Eyes,
Thanks!

Jonathan,
You envy me? I didn't think that would happen.

Stradashpere,
Yes I did get the MP3 and it sounds great! I'm flattered that I gave you the motivation to re-record it.

Mary Beth,
I agree, it's fans like us that get hurt. Damn TicketMaster!!!! They are the ones that think that just because a band has been around for 20-40 years, they can raise the prices. I'm going to try to save up for the next concert.

Ptfan,
Even if you only went once, it's better than never going at all. You are fortunate to be going to three shows.

Natters,
Like I said, It's Ticketmaster. Not only would I have been charged $450 per ticket, but I would also be charged sales tax and a convenience charge.

Anne marie,
I wonder what $100 Canadian is in US dollars? Sounds like 65 Euro is cheaper than $450 USD.

Alice salles,
I hope you'll get that chance too.

Vallyp,
Thanks! There's gonna be another Who concert, but family reunions don't come very often. I hope you get another chance to see Roger Waters and Pearl Jam.

Rich,
Welcome back! That's the only good thing about credit cards, get tickets now, pay it off later. I don't have one anymore, it was too much trouble. I now have a prepaid credit card, but it doesn't have enough credit for tickets yet. At least you get to go, regardless of where you sit. I would take lawn seats over not being there at all.
As for the weather, it's finally cooling down a bit, but it's still hot.

Hi Metalchick,
60,- Euros are 50,- US Dollars. I can't believe. I think they don't play in Germany not in such big arenas like in the USA. This is much more expensive.
Hope you have a good day.
Stefan

Metalchick,

I've just checked out your video section. You've got some good stuff there. I have my own set of videos on You Tube if you want to check them out.

No wonder you see a bunch of suits in the audience. No wonder Led Zeppelin sells Cadillac. It's a huge industry that has very little to do with music.
