The Da Vinci Code

I just saw the movie today and I thought that it was really good, however, the book is better. So if any of you haven't seen the movie yet, I recommend that you read the book first. To the critics; before judging the movie or book, see it or read it first. Once you've done one or the other, or both, then feel free to critique it.

There were only a few things that were bad in the movie, one being the scenes of torture, and second of all...Tom Hanks' hair, ugh!

To those who saw the movie, tell me what you thought of it, I'm open to your opinions.

I've just been watching an arts review programme on the TV and they mentioned this movie. I must say they didn't QUITE give it the mauling that most critics seem to have.

Maybe people get confused and end up slating the film 'cos they don't accept the code is real. If they just said "Hey, it's a great fun conspiracy theory" in the first place then maybe they could just sit back, relax and enjoy themselves. BUT, I have to admit to not reading the book. there have been SOOO many documentaries about it recently I havn't been moved to. Yet.

I agree with you Ian, it is a fun conspiracy theory. I have also watched the documentaries about this subject. I may not agree with everything, but it does make me think more.

I read 'Holy Blood Holy Grail' years ago and it fits with my world view pretty well cuz I think the powers that be are pathalogical liers and have ALWAYS been. Whether it's the church, politicians, corporations. Their whole purpose is to bamboozle people and use them.

Ticharu,
In the movie, they show that a lot, how people are used for the benefit of that user.

Hey there!

Thanks for saying hi and great to met you! Love the thought of you putting me in your list if bloggers too. Your drawings are pretty cool as well.

BTW - I'll try to go and see the DVC next weekend if I can. I read the Holy Blood and the Holy Grail some years ago so know the background to the idea.

Thanks for stopping by my blog ... I love your drawings. Haven't read the book yet, so it looks as though I'll be seeing the movie first, I usually end up liking the book waaaaay better. Thanks for the DaVinci review!

Hi Metalchick, thanks for your visit. I enjoy new blogians!

I just “broke down” and got the book this past week.
Having grown up in RC boarding schools and having totally rebelled against the church/Vatican establishment, I am sure that once I get into it, I will not be able to put it down.

As to TH’s hair – well, he needed a new/different look, other than himself… no?
On the other hand, it may be appealing to audiences other than the anglo-american one… lekr the rest of the world?
Personally, I like his “do”

It sounds like audiences are not paying much attention to the critics anyway.
Thanks for your review.

Hi there, unfortunately this time I didn't have the camera with me, and got about 1/4 mile down the road when I thought about it. A shame, a truly wonderful morning it was.

Hi Metalchick,
I will probably go see the movie in second run indie theatres around September, when all the hoopla dies down. enjoyed the book for the story ride, and will recommend "The Templar Legacy" by Steve Berry to you if you liked DaVinci because it is written with greater skill.

I love your Pete Townshend tribute.

Have a great weekend!

Hi Metalchick
Thanks very much for your comment on my blog! I've just been looking at your own tribute to Pete (really great! What a fantastic photo of him!), and also your lovely drawings of yourother favourite rock stars. They are very very good, and as I often say to Dale, I WISH I could draw like that. You are very lucky to have such a gift.

About the Da Vinci Code, my Koos has just given me the book for my birthday, so I'm looking forward to reading it and will let you know what I think of it when I've finished.....may take a week or two though! I've got so many other books to read!
Take care and I'll 'pop' in again soon

And yet TWO MORE documentaries tonight. At this rate I won't need to see this movie OR read the book.

I must say I'm very honoured that you liked my blog! Yeh, I do love my cats.. I've got 3!

I actually just came back from The DaVinci Code, and I'm not sure what to make of it. To me there were a lot of loose ends and little details that didn't get wrapped up. Luckily, my friend, who happens to be well-learned in basically every religion, was there to help clear things up, haha.

I saw your drawings.. you're quite talented! Perhaps I shall stop by your blog again. :)

Cheers,

Yeh, luckily the kitten belonged to the person across the hall. He's alright. Stealthy kitty, for being forbidden here!

And that picture of Iggy and Keith always cracks me up. XD

Hi.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

I have read the Da vinci code and although i thought the dialogue was a bit forced and the transparency of the dramatic high points made it a bit predictable, the story was a good one and the idea was very interesting. If you take out the obvious factual dilemas it throws up (and not knowing who to believe) i think it's a good read. I'm looking forward to seeing the film soon.

take care

As for the whole Da Vinci thing?...I am not into conspiracy stuff that much. Plus, from what I have read on the book, it is so fictional that it goes down some roads that do not interest me. I prefer more factual experiences, for the most part.

Now, to answer you with regard to Teen Cancer Trust and The WHO...
We, here, have Adelphia cable. As for your cable/dish?...I know you are in the high desert. In fact, one of my sisters was born at Antelope Valley Hospital in 1956. If you do get Adelphia,, I'll tell you where it is, if you need the help. Otherwise, dunno if you can get it on your dish or whatever you have.

Peace and eternal happiness,

Hm, not sure I'm so excited about the story in the book, though it's a well-written suspense story. I might go see the film purely for Ian McKellen who is absolutely fantastic in everything.

Well, I am half way through the book and I must admit it did not disappoint!

What fascinates me, is exactly what's creating all the controversy.
The actual documented historical facts totally intertwined with fantasy - hmmm?

Have you gone to follow up on the net?
WoW-wow-wow, seeing location images makes it soooo much more intriguing, particularly from the West Coast of NA!
